on how to start/work (in) a collective residency

find a space, get the key. just start. dive in. don't wait to feel comfortable, or see what emerges, make a decision and change it if necessary. strive for diversity: 'collective' doesn't necessarily mean that everyone has to agree. give as much as you can. take as much as you can. listen generously. know when to speak up and shut up. set a space and time for every voice to be heard. set a routine so you don't loose yourself into not knowing what to choose from so much freedom. don't be afraid of structure/planning - everything is mutable and transitory, you just need to keep yourself sensitive to what's happening. don't be afraid of sharing stupid ideas or ideas that you're still not sure how to articulate, you're not the only one having that feeling. keep remembering why you're all together, what brought you here and how much you care for each other. being in a collective doesn't mean erasing yourself, set a space to listen to yourself so that you can respond and stay active (even if active means listening - be an active listener, let yourself be trespassed by the others, trust them). everyone is spectator and performer at the same time. working with no frames is confining/limiting. enjoy washing the dishes of the others. the most advantageous person is the one who knows less. there is always a difference between what we say that we do, what we do and what we think that we did. one person is not enough to stay collective. thoughts should leave traces. a daily routine must be established as a practice. challenge should become a principle and individual necessity should be spoken as a collective choice. non stop speaking time based task. it's based on a purpose of beginning and not with an aim to its end. space configuration should change daily and each member should share 1 hour with another to discuss a subject from an unknown source. develop different displays of "discussion frame". start with a party. establish a common direction, issues to work on or some goals if it's the case. each participant should let the others know where he/she is at with his/her work, interests, questions and so on. create a frame which will allow everyone to just feel open, free and available for whatever comes, finding a flow in which proposing does not mean imposing and listening does not mean being passive or not interested. set some rules without creating limitations. try to build a model of your thoughts. a collective model. but each should still folow their own inner logic. for one hour to say all the questions we have about art\life - like throwing up all the un\necessary questions. every moment of the collective residency is an important moment. let's try and see it as a performance. a performance of a meeting. it is 10 days of ongoing performance. give atention to details. our body in space - we share the same space most of the time. webcam should be open all the time. mostly when each one is on their own computer, the webcam should record and observe the body - the webcam  can give a reflection of each self, in the moments the body is not aware of itself. we can create a new world while we are here. to use the fact that we are disconnected from the "real world". imagine we are 3-D avatars. it is a big virtual chat-room, we can play with perceptions. mix virtual with real.
